Aimless Witch (Questioning Witch Series Book 1) – Shannon

From the world of Rylee Adamson and the Elemental Series comes a heroine with nothing to lose and everything to prove….

“My name is Pamela, and I am a witch who has no equal.”

Or so I thought.

It has been three years since the Destroyer sundered our world. The land is no longer whole, but broken into pieces, most technology gone, and the continents shattered into an unrecognizable place.

New monsters have risen from the depths, adding danger on top of danger. Through it all the humans fight to survive as they compete not only with the supernaturals for food and resources, but their own kind as well.

And me? The caravans of humans I pass, they look to me to save them.

Only I am not the witch I once was. Bound by those who fear my power and my bloodline, I’m lucky if I can light a match with my magic, never mind protect anyone but myself.

Now, the darkness in me rises, offering me all that I want. Freedom from the chains I wear, and the power to make everything right. But if I embrace the darkness I will face a cost I could never have imagined…

We have waited quite a while to read Pamela’s story, but it was worth the wait. After the explosive ending of Shannon Mayer’s Elemental Series Pam is whisked away by Rylee, after her part in helping The Destroyer break the world apart to save it. Soon after she is cornered by Elementals from each bloodline, placing specific magical bracelets on her to bind her Elemental powers, to stop her from using them, they believe she has no right to access this important magic leaving Pamela with nothing but her Dark Magic, as this comes from her mother’s bloodline not her father’s, Raven. This is her punishment for her part in helping The Destroyer.

We pick up 3 years after the fact, with Pamela struggling with the guilt of what she has done, everything has changed and not for the better. Strange new animals roam the lands, the rules that have always been in place for the Supernatural and humans alike have changed, no longer do guns malfunction around the supernatural as Pamela finds out and this is just one of the many things gone ary.

Joining a caravan of humans in order to stay alive, Pamala struggles with the internal battle of her Dark Magic from her mother’s bloodline, the only magic she has access to now that the bracelets are on. The darkness calls to her, to tempt her, it speaks to her almost if it were an entity of its own. Faced with protecting the humans of the caravan her training that Rylee drilled into her all those years ago kicks in, but it comes to the point where it’s not enough. Is she able to take control of the magic or will the magic take control of her?

To help her Faris sends her a friend of his, someone to help watch her back as a storm is coming, a storm so strong that many will die and Pamela can only try and save as many as she can. Mac is sexy and strong, a Polar Bear shifter who awakens something in Pamela she thought was gone, lost in The Breaking, lost with Alex. Will she let go of the past and take a chance with Mac?

I adored this book, make sure you have some tissues ready because as always Shannon Mayer has some epic and impacting twists that are heart wrenching, some exciting and some that you cheer for! It was astounding to see Pamela as a grown Adult, coming into her own. She is still sassy, brave, foul mouthed and one hell of a heroine.
