After long nights writing and a lot of ‘Supernatural’ episodes she is finally ready to share ‘Something Missing’. Hazel loves nothing better than sitting with a cup of tea, a chocolate biscuit and a good book.
So Hazel some quick questions………
When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing January 2013, I have had the idea for a long time and after speaking to a fellow author I started in secret for about 4 months before I told anyone I was writing.
What inspired you to write your first book?
A book called “Take This Regret“, a tragic romance novel that just stole my heart I wanted to make others feel the way I did after reading such a powerful story.
How did you come up with the title?
“Something Missing” wasn’t the original title “Take My Heart” was but as the story progressed and my characters took over the title just didn’t fit the story so I changed it to “Something Missing” because I think before you find your true love there is something missing!
Did you learn anything from writing your first book and what was it?
The main thing I learnt was who I am as a person, I learnt how creative I can be and how I can take a blank page and fill it with a completely different world and Im proud of that.
Who designs your covers?
My publishers, Little Bird Publishing House. I had the image already and they worked their magic on it and made it a thing of beauty
Are there messages in your novels that you want your readers to grasp?
Something Missing is the first in“The True Love Series” im a great believer in true love and that everyone deserves to be loved unconditionally and the message in the True Love Series is never give up on love everyone has that certain someone that gives them butterflies.
How much of your books are realistic?
Something missing is two people with jagged pasts learning to love each other and forget the things that have happened to them, so I would say they are pretty realistic.
Are the experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I wouldn’t say they are events in my own life, but I did meet my true love and he did change my life for the better. Susan (my main character) has a few of my traits but apart from that no the story is from my head.
What books have most influenced your life most?
“Take this Regret” is the book that started my writing life.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
A.L.Jackson, when I first had the idea of writing she helped me every step of the way, she is always there to give me advise and tips on how to do things, she is so amazing.
Who is your favourite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
A.L.Jackson hehe, she wrote “Take This Regret” along with many others I just love the way she can take a tragedy and make it something beautiful
What book are you reading now?
At the moment I’m reading “The Awakening” by Emma Jones
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Well as a new author myself im getting to meet a lot of new and longstanding authors, Helen Whapshott is just so amazing she is also published by Little Bird Publishing House and her book “The Glow” came out before mine, also Emma Jones is such a sweetie her book is so amazing and I can’t wait for the second one.
What are your current projects?
Currently im working on book two of the True Love Series
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Never stop trying, if you have a story you want to share then share it, writing isn’t about the money or fame it’s about sharing what you have created with others. It’s not an easy road to go down but there are lots of people out there that will help I advise is the best friend you will have in the writing world is the bloggers, reviewers and fellow authors, ask them questions take there advise and become there friends.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
